Ottawa Senators 5 Winnipeg Jets 3 (Jets 30-28-7, Home 15-13-5) – The five goals against are the most the Jets have surrendered since the arrival of Paul Maurice. Malik Jefferson Bengals Jersey . The Jets also gave up two goals while shorthanded, the first time they have given up two since December 23 in Edmonton, 26 games ago. It was also the seventh game this season where the Jets have scored two power play goals in a game. The Jets failed to convert on a five-on-three and it was Ottawa that opened the scoring with a power play goal from Milan Michalek, a goal that went off Matt Halischuk and just got across the goal line. Brian Little with his 20th of the year tied it, also on a power play. It was his seventh power play goal of the year, and 50th point of the year, one shy of his career high for a single season. Dustin Byfuglien and Andrew Ladd picked up assists. Byfuglien has 21 power play points on the season. But, 38 seconds later Jared Cowan with his fourth of the year regained the lead for Ottawa. Against Los Angeles Thursday the Kings scored 42 seconds after the Jets scored to tie the game. Shots in the first were 13-12 Ottawa. The Jets started the second with some good offensive chances but it was the Sens that scored at 2:01 to make it a 3-1 game. It was another strange goal for Ottawa. On a two-on-one, Mark Stuart dove to break up the play, which he did, but in the process took out Ondrej Pavelec and left the net wide open for Eric Gryba to get his second of the year. Toby Enstrom scored the Jets second power play goal of the afternoon to make it 3-2. For Enstrom his seventh of the year and second on the power play. It came right off a face off win by Evander Kane. Then 38 seconds that turned the game. Kyle Turris scored his 21st at 8:58, Devin Setoguchi went for boarding at 9:20 and Mike Hoffman with a power play goal at 9:36 made it 5-2. It was Hoffmans first NHL goal. Al Montoya came into the game, his first action since the St. Louis game before the Olympic break. Jets had two power plays in the final seven minutes of the second but failed to score. Shots in the second were 14-13 Jets. The third period was all Jets. Byfuglien with his 14th at 2:13 made it a two-goal game. Byfuglien rifled one of the right wing that beat Craig Anderson high. The remainder of the period though belonged to Anderson. The Jets outshot Ottawa 22-7 in the third, but could not get closer than 5-3. Final shots were 49-32. Jets have scored 31 power play goals, 22 at home. For the 10th time this season Jacob Trouba led the Jets in ice time at 24:17, Enstrom led in shots on goal with seven, Byfuglien and Kane had six each. Michael Frolik won 10 of 12 face offs in his second game at centre. Post-game Coach Maurice was positive. "Strange pucks going into the net, especially on their first three. First one is off two of our guys and in, second one off one of our guys and in, third one we take our goalie out. On the game we liked our chances better than theirs. I liked the emotional level we played within the last part of the game. There was no quit, we had more intensity as the game wore on." On the play of Pavelec, "Unfortunate. To be great you need some breaks. Ive got no problem with him." On the power play that went two for seven, "we had 17 power play shots, got two goals. That is what were trying to do. We had two goals. One was to make playoffs, the second to set a foundation for the game we want to play. We are moving in that direction." The Jets are in Colorado Monday (TSN Jets, TSN 1290), before returning home for three more against Vancouver, the New York Rangers and a huge game against the Dallas Stars, the team they are chasing in the West. Sam Hubbard Bengals Jersey .com) - The New York Islanders will try to solve their issues against Central Division opponents when they visit the Minnesota Wild for Tuesdays battle at Xcel Energy Center. Preston Brown Jersey . TSN Hockey Insider Bob McKenzie tweeted on Monday that Hemsky will be going to market as an unrestricted free agent on July 1. http://www.bengalsrookiestore.com/Bengals-Andrew-Billings-Jersey/ . The 25-year-old native of Milford, Conn., has 18 points in 41 games this season. The five-foot-eight 166-pound centre also has 28 points (10-18) in 15 games with AHL Oklahoma City.CHICAGO -- A couple of weeks ago, Jeff Samardzija was a symbol of the Chicago Cubs struggles when he was winless despite leading the major leagues in ERA. Now Samardzija has his second win in three starts for a team trying to turn around its season. Samardzija tossed seven solid innings, Junior Lake hit two home runs and Emilio Bonifacio added a two-run shot as the Cubs extended their winning streak to five with a 5-2 victory over the Miami Marlins on Saturday. "The best thing as a starting pitcher you can have is consistency -- that every time you go out there your coach and your teammates know what youre going to give them," Samardzija said. "Thats what I want to do." Saturday certainly was a start. Samardzija (2-5) allowed two runs and five hits in seven innings, striking out eight. Pedro Strop got his second save. Except for his last outing -- eight runs in three innings at Milwaukee last Sunday -- Samardzija has put up similar numbers all season. The Cubs, though, would always come up short in one phase of the game during his outings, whether it was offence or defence. During the winning streak, consistent all-around production has been the norm. "I think everybodys contributing in some shape or form," Chicago manager Rick Renteria said. "Junior adding two solo homers there, those are big runs, obviously. There are a lot of different things, a lot of little things. Theyre just playing the game." Christian Yelich went 2 for 4 with a homer for the Marlins and opened the scoring in the third inning with a solo shot to make it 1-0. "It was a good swing," Marlins manager Mike Redmond said. "He keeps battling. He gives you good at-bats. Hes got power. You see it in there. Its just really just a matter of consistency for him. He keeps having good at-bats. Even though his average is probably not where he would want it, or everyone else would want it, I know hes going to give me a good at-bat." The Cubs wentt in front in the bottom half of the inning when Samardzija singled and Bonifacio hammered a 3-2 pitch from Miami starter Randy Wolf (1-2) into the left-field bleachers for a 2-1 lead. Preston Brown Bengals Jersey. . It was Bonifacios first homer since July 30 last season. "That was great," Samardzija said. "I got to jog around the bases instead of having to score from first." The Cubs stretched the lead to 3-1 in the fifth when Lake hit a long homer into the shrubbery in centre field, connecting with a 79 mph changeup on a 2-1 count. Miami got to 3-2 in the sixth inning when Giancarlo Stanton doubled with one out, moved to third on a wild pitch and scored on Casey McGehees groundout to first base. The Cubs got a run back in the bottom half when Starlin Castro led off with a double, advanced to third on a fly out and scored when Wolf threw a wild pitch with Mike Olt at the plate. Lake bumped the lead to 5-2 an inning later when he went deep for the second time in the game -- the second multihomer game of his career -- on a line drive to left against reliever Chris Hatcher. "I really love how were playing right now as a team in all phases," Samardzija said. "To win big league ballgames you have to have all three or four phases of the game. "I love the way were swinging it right now, and, as a pitcher, it gives you a lot of confidence to go out and pound the zone." NOTES: Cubs LHP Zac Rosscup (left shoulder soreness) began his rehab assignment with Class AAA Iowa Saturday. He has been on the disabled list since May 10. ... Redmond said C Jarrod Saltalamacchia (concussion) has not participated in baseball activities since being hit on his catching mask by a foul tip on May 31 and that it was likely he would be sent to the 15-day disabled list. ... RHP Jake Arrieta (1-1, 3.00 ERA) will face RHP Henderson Alvarez (3-3, 2.62) Sunday in the finale of the three-game series. Alvarezs three wins are all shutouts.
